Beth Orton is making a grand return to the music scene with the announcement of her latest studio album, her first in four years, titled "The Ground Above." Set for release on June 26 through Partisan, this much-anticipated record will be supported by an extensive international tour. The lead single, "Waiting," has already been unveiled, with Orton characterizing it as a celebration of liberation from the grip of fear.

The album itself is structured in two distinct parts: the initial tracks delve into more intricate and fragmented musical landscapes, while the latter half expands into broader, more melodic territories. Orton took on the role of producer for this project, enlisting a talented roster of collaborators including Nick Hakim, Tom Skinner, Shahzad Ismaily, and Sam Beste of Vernon Spring. This release follows her critically acclaimed 2022 album, "Weather Alive," and "Waiting" is the second preview from the new collection, following the earlier release of the title track, "The Ground Above."

The accompanying tour is scheduled to commence on September 15 in Washington, D.C., and will traverse various cities across the United States and Canada for a dozen performances. Following the North American leg, Orton will head to the UK for a series of concerts in England and Scotland, offering fans a global opportunity to experience her new material live. This tour promises to be a significant event for her followers, showcasing her latest creative endeavors.

The arts, particularly music, possess an incredible power to inspire and uplift. Through her new album and tour, Beth Orton is not only sharing her artistic evolution but also encouraging listeners to embrace courage and shed the constraints of apprehension. Her work serves as a reminder that personal growth and creative expression are intertwined, offering a beacon of hope and resilience in challenging times. Engaging with such profound artistic journeys can enrich our lives, fostering a deeper connection to our own emotions and aspirations.
