CBS Media Ventures has solidified its broadcast schedule for the upcoming 2026-27 season by extending the runs of several established and popular syndicated series. This strategic decision aims to bolster the network's daytime and early fringe offerings, ensuring a consistent lineup for viewers across the nation. The renewals encompass a mix of newsmagazines, courtroom dramas, and game shows, reflecting a commitment to proven formats and viewer favorites.

Among the programs receiving extensions are the enduring entertainment news program “Entertainment Tonight” and the investigative news series “Inside Edition.” Both shows have maintained strong viewership since their debuts in the 1980s, becoming household names in daily television. Alongside these mainstays, the popular courtroom show “Hot Bench” will also continue its successful run. Furthermore, the game show enthusiasts can look forward to new seasons of “Flip Side” and “The Perfect Line.” These renewed series join “The Drew Barrymore Show,” which had previously secured a two-season extension, highlighting CBS Media Ventures' confidence in its current roster.

This announcement comes at a crucial time for the syndication market, which has recently seen a number of high-profile cancellations in the talk show segment. Several programs, including “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” “Sherri,” “Karamo,” and “The Steve Wilkos Show,” along with the newsmagazine “Access Hollywood,” are concluding their runs after the current season. The latter three ceased production following NBCUniversal's decision to exit the first-run syndicated programming space. CBS Media Ventures' proactive renewals demonstrate a clear strategy to maintain stability and competitiveness in this evolving landscape.

In addition to securing its existing hits, CBS Media Ventures is introducing fresh content to its 2026-27 slate. A new court show, “Adam’s Law,” is set to debut, featuring Adam Levy, a former district attorney and the son of the renowned Judge Judy Sheindlin, who serves as an executive producer for the series. This addition is expected to draw upon the established popularity of legal-themed programming. The company is also expanding its distribution portfolio by taking over the syndicated rights for “America’s Funniest Home Videos” and the video-clip show “American Mayhem.” The distribution of perennial game show favorites “Jeopardy!” and “Wheel of Fortune” will continue under CBS Media Ventures in the U.S. through the 2027-28 season, a result of a legal agreement with producer Sony Pictures Television. Following this period, Sony is slated to assume both production and distribution responsibilities for these iconic shows.

This comprehensive set of renewals and new acquisitions underscores CBS Media Ventures' robust strategy to navigate the dynamic television landscape. By blending long-standing audience favorites with fresh offerings and expanding its distribution reach, the network aims to solidify its position as a dominant force in syndicated programming for the foreseeable future. The moves reflect a commitment to delivering diverse and engaging content to viewers, while adapting to the changing industry trends and competitive pressures.
