Veteran country music icon Ray Stevens is currently on the mend at his Nashville residence following a fall that resulted in a neck fracture. Despite the need for a neck brace over the next month, the resilient artist is reportedly in high spirits and maintaining full mobility. This unexpected incident comes at a critical time, coinciding with the imminent launch of his latest album, titled 'Favorites Old & New,' a collection that promises a blend of beloved classics and fresh compositions. This recent health challenge marks another chapter in his personal journey, following a minor heart attack in July 2025.

Country Legend Ray Stevens Sustains Neck Injury, Album Release Proceeds

In a recent development on Sunday, March 29, 2026, the venerable country music artist, Ray Stevens, experienced an unfortunate fall at his Nashville home, leading to a fractured neck. Following a brief period of hospitalization in the Nashville area, he was discharged and is now recovering comfortably at home. Medical professionals have advised the 87-year-old musician to wear a neck brace for approximately four weeks as a precautionary measure to aid in his recovery. Despite the severity of the injury, Stevens' representatives confirmed to Rolling Stone that he is 'fully mobile' and maintaining 'good spirits' throughout his recuperation.

This incident occurs just as Stevens is poised to unveil his forthcoming album, 'Favorites Old & New,' scheduled for release on Friday, April 10, through Curb Records. The artist expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, 'I had a lot of fun creating this album. It really does contain a few of my favorite old songs as well as favorite new ones penned by some talented writers. I just hope Ray Stevens fans enjoy it as much as Ray Stevens!' The album will feature his distinctive interpretations of timeless songs such as 'The Look of Love,' 'It Had to Be You,' and 'Come Rain or Come Shine,' alongside new tracks including 'I Guess You’ve Never Been in Love With the Moon,' 'Moving Out Is Easier Than Moving On,' and 'Time Machine.'

This health update follows a previous concern in July 2025, when Stevens underwent surgery after a minor heart attack. A distinguished inductee into the Country Music Hall of Fame, Stevens is widely celebrated for his eclectic musical style, seamlessly weaving humor and social commentary into his work. His impressive repertoire spans from the humorous chart-topper 'The Streak' to the thought-provoking 'Mr. Businessman.' His most recent album, 'Say Whut?,' was released in March 2025, and he debuted his single, 'Savannah,' in February of the current year.

The journey of Ray Stevens, marked by both artistic triumphs and personal health challenges, reminds us of the profound resilience inherent in the human spirit. Despite facing physical setbacks, his unwavering dedication to his craft and his positive outlook serve as an inspiration. His continued creative output, even in recovery, underscores the idea that passion can transcend adversity, offering a powerful message about perseverance and the enduring joy of music.
