Disneyland's recent unveiling of a new Han Solo costumed character at its Galaxy's Edge attraction has ignited a firestorm of criticism among "Star Wars" enthusiasts, drawing comparisons and unflattering remarks across social media platforms.

The Galactic Debut That Drew Intergalactic Jeers

Disneyland Welcomes a New Han Solo to Galaxy's Edge

Starting April 29, Disneyland's Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge in Anaheim, California, will feature a new walk-around Han Solo character. This beloved intergalactic smuggler, originally immortalized by actor Harrison Ford, is poised to interact with park visitors, bringing a piece of the "Star Wars" universe to life.

The Unveiling and Immediate Public Response

On April 15, the official "Star Wars" social media channels introduced the character with a short promotional video. The message, echoing Han Solo's famous line, "Never tell me the odds," announced his arrival. However, instead of widespread excitement, the debut was met with a wave of negative feedback from fans, quickly becoming a topic of online discussion.

Fan Disappointment and Unflattering Comparisons

The new portrayal of Han Solo failed to impress many long-time fans. Numerous comments on social media highlighted the perceived lack of resemblance to Harrison Ford, with one user remarking, "He's no Harrison Ford." Another critique pointed out a recurring issue with Disney's live characters, suggesting, "that's just some guy," drawing parallels to similar dissatisfaction with the Star-Lord character from "Guardians of the Galaxy."

Critiques on Appearance and Character Integrity

The criticisms extended beyond simple resemblance, delving into the character's overall aesthetic. Some fans humorously, yet pointedly, observed that the new Han Solo looked more like other Disney figures, such as Prince Charming or Gaston from "Beauty and the Beast," rather than the scruffy nerf herder they knew. A particularly sharp remark called out the character's hairpiece as the "Worst wig ever," undercutting the intended celebratory scene with his companion Chewbacca.

Expanding the Galaxy's Edge Roster

Despite the current mixed reactions, the introduction of Han Solo is part of a broader initiative to enhance the Galaxy's Edge experience. Alongside Han Solo, other iconic characters from the original "Star Wars" trilogy, including Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, and Princess Leia, are scheduled to make their debut at the park on April 29, promising a richer immersion into the saga for visitors.
