A major transformation is set to occur in the music festival scene of Austin, Texas, as Levitation announces a shift towards a centralized event space. The Palmer Events Center will host the main festivities in 2025, marking a significant departure from previous multi-venue formats. While this change brings an enhanced experience with larger performances and improved facilities, late-night shows will still enliven the Red River Cultural District. This strategic move mirrors the successful model of Fun Fun Fun Fest, promising a revitalized atmosphere for music enthusiasts.

Organizers have crafted an impressive lineup that includes renowned acts such as TV On The Radio, Pavement, Built to Spill, Mastodon, and Unknown Mortal Orchestra. The decision to relocate stems from the desire to accommodate bigger audiences and offer a more sophisticated setting. Graham Williams, founder of Resound Presents, highlights how the festival's musical scope has expanded over time. "The variety we’re showcasing now surpasses anything we’ve done before," he states, emphasizing the diverse range of emerging and established talents gracing the stages.

This transition signifies not only a physical relocation but also an evolution in the festival's identity. By choosing the Palmer Events Center, organizers aim to enhance accessibility and attendee comfort while maintaining ties to the vibrant local music culture through nighttime events in the Red River area. Rob Fitzpatrick, co-founder of Levitation, expresses excitement about creating a lasting legacy at their new hub. He notes, "Our goal is to combine world-class production with stunning visuals within a welcoming urban park environment." As fans eagerly anticipate September's gathering, they can look forward to breathtaking art installations alongside unforgettable performances, celebrating unity and creativity in the heart of Austin.

Fractured Ties and Musical Legacy: Dave Mustaine's Reflections on Metallica
The relationship between Dave Mustaine and his former band Metallica has been tumultuous. During a recent interview on The Shawn Ryan Show, Mustaine recounted his 1983 dismissal from the band, claiming he was unfairly expelled and that Metallica used his material without permission. He refutes the notion that his drinking was the sole reason for his departure, pointing out that all members drank heavily at the time. Mustaine reveals he brought a tape of guitar riffs to New York, where he was abruptly told he was out of the band. He asserts that songs like "Ride The Lightning," "The Call Of Ktulu," and others feature his work, with some lacking proper credit. Despite the bitterness, Metallica recently announced their M72 World Tour extending to Europe and the UK in 2024.
