M.I.A. has officially launched her eagerly awaited seventh studio album, 'M.I.7,' under her independent label, OHMNIMUSIC. This innovative project comprises seven distinct tracks, each conceived and recorded over seven days in seven different international locales, with a special contribution from the American gospel collective, Sunday Service.

The creative journey for 'M.I.7' spanned diverse landscapes, from the ancient lands of Ethiopia, Egypt, and India to the vibrant cultures of the United Kingdom, Greece, and Australia, culminating in recording sessions at Rick Rubin’s renowned Shangri La Studio in the U.S. The album's thematic foundation draws inspiration from the biblical Book of Revelation, with each of the seven trumpets signaling a narrative of judgment that transitions into the subsequent track.

A press release accompanying the album's debut reveals that the conceptual framework for 'M.I.7' was a spontaneous "vision that revealed itself before the recording process began, which demanded to be followed." The album also features the previously released single, “Everything,” offering a glimpse into its unique sound.

This new offering follows M.I.A.'s 2022 album, 'MATA,' which garnered attention for its attempt to reconcile her past artistic expressions with contemporary relevance. Critics observed that while 'MATA' revisited familiar territory, it left open the question of whether she had fresh perspectives to share.

Fans can anticipate seeing M.I.A. live as she joins Kid Cudi on 'The Rebel Ragers' tour across North America. The tour is scheduled to commence on April 28 in Phoenix at the Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre and conclude on June 27 in Chula Vista, California, at the North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre. Recently, M.I.A. made a surprise appearance with Diplo at Coachella, performing her iconic single “Paper Planes” from her 2007 album, 'Kala.'

The release of 'M.I.7' marks a significant moment in M.I.A.'s career, showcasing her continued evolution as an artist while delving into profound conceptual themes. The album's unique recording process and biblical inspirations set it apart, promising a thought-provoking auditory experience for listeners.
