Petrobras has received board approval for a significant biorefining endeavor, signaling a commitment to sustainable energy production. This undertaking focuses on establishing a dedicated unit within the Presidente Bernardes Refinery in Cubatão, Brazil, specifically designed for the manufacture of renewable diesel and bio-jet fuel, showcasing the company's forward-thinking approach to fuel innovation.

The investment for this strategic project is estimated at approximately US$1.2 billion, demonstrating the scale of Petrobras's ambition in the renewable energy sector. With construction slated to commence by the end of the current year, the facility is projected to become operational by 2030. Once fully functional, it will boast a substantial production capacity of up to 15,000 barrels per day of advanced renewable fuels.

This initiative underscores Petrobras's dedication to fostering a just energy transition within Brazil and adhering to global environmental standards. The project's objectives are in harmony with Brazil's Future Fuel Law (Law No. 14,993/2024) and the International Civil Aviation Organization's Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation, positioning Petrobras at the forefront of environmentally responsible energy solutions.

This venture not only exemplifies a commitment to environmental stewardship but also highlights the potential for economic growth through innovation. By investing in renewable fuels, Petrobras is paving the way for a more sustainable future, contributing to both national and international efforts to combat climate change and reduce carbon emissions. Such strategic decisions reinforce the idea that economic development and environmental responsibility can, and should, go hand in hand, fostering a brighter and cleaner tomorrow for all.
