Plimsoll Productions, a member of the ITV Studios group, has announced the appointment of acclaimed executive producer Paul Wright. He will be instrumental in developing dynamic live programming that spans various categories, including adventure, factual entertainment, and natural history. This strategic move aims to bolster Plimsoll's capabilities in delivering high-impact, real-time content, building on Wright's extensive experience in the field.

Wright's most recent notable achievement was his involvement in 'Skyscraper Live with Alex Honnold,' a groundbreaking live event for Netflix. This production captivated a global audience as free solo climber Alex Honnold ascended a towering skyscraper in Taipei, Taiwan, demonstrating Wright's mastery of complex live broadcasts.

With a career spanning over 25 years, Paul Wright is a distinguished figure in television production, recognized with prestigious accolades such as the Royal Television Society and Rose d'Or awards. His impressive portfolio includes a diverse range of successful shows, including 'Bigheads,' 'The Million Pound Cube,' and 'Sounds Like Friday Night.' He also contributed to major events like 'Pride of Britain' and 'Comic Relief's Big Chat with Graham Norton,' alongside producing for the BBC on programs like 'Comedy Map of Britain,' FIFA World Cups, the Athens Olympics, and 'Match of the Day.'

Expressing his enthusiasm, Wright stated that live television is his passion, and his experience with 'Skyscraper Live' confirmed Plimsoll as the ideal environment for his ambitions. He lauded the exceptional talent within the company and the vast creative opportunities available. James Smith, head of adventure and live at Plimsoll, praised Wright's performance on 'Skyscraper Live,' calling it their most challenging live production to date. Smith highlighted Wright's versatility across genres, keen editorial judgment, and ability to excel under intense real-time pressure as qualities that make him perfect for this pivotal role as Plimsoll expands its live programming endeavors.

In other recent developments, Plimsoll Productions has received critical acclaim, securing six Emmy Awards for 'A Real Bug's Life,' available on Disney+ and National Geographic. The company is currently engaged in the production of 'Surviving Pompeii with Tom Hiddleston,' another project for Disney+ and National Geographic, in addition to several unannounced live projects that are in various stages of development and production.
