Prince Harry, alongside former trustee Mark Dyer, is facing a defamation lawsuit initiated by Sentebale, the African charity he co-established. The charity's official statement, issued by its board of trustees and executive director, reveals that legal proceedings have commenced in the High Court of England and Wales. Sentebale claims the duo masterminded a coordinated negative media campaign, which has resulted in significant online impact and a wave of cyber-bullying directed at the organization and its leadership, causing both operational disturbances and damage to its public image.

Sentebale's mission, since its inception in 2006 by Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho, has been to address critical issues concerning youth health, economic disparity, and climate resilience across Lesotho and Botswana. This legal dispute emerges after both co-founders, along with several trustees, stepped down from their roles in March 2025. Their departure was attributed to an irreconcilable breakdown in their working relationship with the board's chair, creating an untenable operational environment.

The decision to pursue legal action, while undoubtedly challenging, was deemed essential by the board and executive director to safeguard Sentebale's mission and future growth. They expressed hope that supporters of the charity would understand the necessity of this step, allowing the organization to focus on its crucial work without further hindrance. This situation underscores the complexities and sensitivities involved in the governance and public perception of charitable organizations, especially those with high-profile founders.
