The Royal Television Society (RTS) in the United Kingdom has recently announced a significant leadership change, appointing Sophie Jones as its new Chief Executive Officer. Sophie Jones brings a wealth of experience to her new role. She previously served as the Chief Strategy Officer at the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), an organization renowned for its work with the BRIT Awards and Mercury Prize. Her tenure at BPI, which began in 2020 as Director of Public Affairs, saw her contribute significantly to the music trade association's strategic direction. Before her time at BPI, Jones held the position of Head of Corporate Relations at Channel 4, further solidifying her expertise in the media sector. As the new CEO, Jones will succeed Theresa Wise, working closely with the board of trustees to steer the RTS's educational initiatives, award ceremonies, conventions, and its network of national and regional centers, as well as its extensive membership community.

Expressing her enthusiasm for the new challenge, Jones emphasized her commitment to building upon the strong foundation laid by her predecessor. Jane Turton, Chair of the RTS board of trustees, highlighted Jones's profound understanding of production and broadcasting, underscoring its value as the society navigates the rapidly evolving media environment.
