British rock band Squeeze is set to release their latest album, 'Trixies,' a collection of songs penned during their adolescence. Members Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford revisited compositions from their early days in the mid-1970s, many of which revolve around a fictional nightclub called Trixies. Tilbrook expressed his astonishment and pride in the youthful songwriting, noting that the only difference now is the band's ability to properly arrange and perform these early works. Difford echoed this sentiment, highlighting that they lacked the necessary musical experience to record these songs properly when they were first conceived.
Ahead of the album's official release on March 6, 2026, Squeeze has offered fans a preview with the debut single, 'Trixies Part One,' which introduces the titular nightclub. Difford shared his joy in discovering the quality of these teenage compositions, expressing immense pride in their early creative output. This marks Squeeze's first album since 2017's 'The Knowledge.' However, fans will not have to endure another long wait, as the band has already completed recording a follow-up album featuring entirely new material, ensuring a continuous flow of music.
The act of re-exploring these old compositions was an emotional experience for Tilbrook, bringing him to tears, partly due to the songs' inherent quality and partly from the realization of unwritten music yet to come. This album serves as a bridge between their past and present, showcasing the enduring talent and evolution of their songwriting journey, demonstrating that true artistic passion only deepens with time and experience.
