Music Meets Paleontology: The Unique Recording Sessions at Sternberg Museum
The Sternberg Museum of Natural History in Hays, Kansas, recently hosted an unusual recording project called the Paleoverb Project. Singer/songwriter and producer Jeff Berkley, captivated by the museum's unique acoustics during a visit, organized recording sessions within the undersea diorama for three musical groups. The enclosed space, resembling the Western Interior Seaway, provided a distinctive reverb effect. Artists from Colorado and California participated, including Veronica May, Stucky Leigh, and Please Ask for Paul. This creative endeavor allowed musicians to explore their art in a surreal atmosphere surrounded by dinosaur skeletons and fossils. While the museum gains exposure, the primary aim was fostering creativity and offering artists an extraordinary experience. Each group’s recordings will feature on their albums and a collective Paleoverb Project album.
