The Latest Festive Offering: "Secret Santa" EP Unveiled

In a heartwarming move, Chance the Rapper and Jeremih have delighted their fanbase with the release of their new EP, titled "Secret Santa." This five-song collection, which became available on Soundcloud just in time for Christmas Eve, marks another chapter in the duo's celebrated holiday musical collaborations.

Journey Through "Secret Santa": A Track-by-Track Exploration

The EP commences with "Safe With Me," an R&B composition perfect for the winter season. Jeremih's melodic vocals set the tone, reassuring listeners, "You don't need to be alone, by yourself at home; you should be in some arms, safe with me, far from home." Chance's verse complements this sentiment, painting a picture of warmth against a cold, snowy backdrop: "It's chilly outside, it's lonesome out there; roads are icy, be careful not to slip; it's freezing, with snow falling." The musical journey continues with additional tracks such as "I Want What I Want," "Black Santa," "Gloria," and "Bless Them All." The artists hinted at the EP's arrival on Instagram shortly before its release, teasing fans with a snippet from "Safe With Me."

A Cherished Holiday Musical Legacy Continues

Chance and Jeremih embarked on their holiday music venture in 2016 with the inaugural "Merry Christmas Lil' Mama" project. The following year, the Chicago-based artists unveiled the "Re-Wrapped" version, succeeded by another fresh edition, "The Gift that Keeps on Giving," in 2020.

The Spontaneous Origins of a Festive Tradition

Reflecting on the inception of their collaborative efforts, Jeremih shared with Billboard in 2017, "We completed that project in just a week and a half." He recounted a chance encounter with Chance at CRC Studios, where, upon learning of Jeremih's holiday music plans for his fans, Chance enthusiastically suggested they collaborate. Jeremih, who admitted to never having been particularly fond of Christmas before, found himself embracing the holiday spirit as his entire family enjoyed dancing to "Merry Christmas, Lil' Mama," including his grandfather.

Extending the Holiday Spirit Beyond Music

Jeremih's recent solo holiday single, also titled "Secret Santa," indicates his deepened connection to the festive season. Chance is also immersed in the holiday spirit; he plans to host a "Day after Christmas AfterParty" in Chicago on December 26th, with all proceeds dedicated to supporting his non-profit organization, SocialWorks.
