Flea, the renowned bassist for Red Hot Chili Peppers, has officially announced the launch of his inaugural full-length solo record, titled Honora. This highly anticipated album is scheduled for release on March 27, 2026, through Nonesuch Records. Alongside this revelation, he unveiled a new track, 'Traffic Light,' a collaborative effort with Thom Yorke and Josh Johnson, highlighting a spontaneous creative connection that blossomed into a unique musical piece.

The creation of Honora, named in tribute to a family member, saw Flea not only compose and arrange the music but also contribute on trumpet and bass. He was joined by a talented ensemble including producer and saxophonist Josh Johnson, guitarist Jeff Parker, bassist Anna Butterss, and drummer Deantoni Parks. Vocal contributions from Thom Yorke and Nick Cave further enrich the album's sound, with additional support from Mauro Refosco and Nate Walcott, showcasing a rich tapestry of musical collaboration.

Reflecting on the album's genesis, Flea recalled a moment in 1991 when he envisioned an instrumental record filled with deep, immersive grooves and captivating melodies. This long-held aspiration culminated as he approached his 60th birthday, leading him to dedicate two years to daily trumpet practice and the meticulous crafting of this album. Despite initial apprehensions about how his collaborators would perceive his skills, he found profound support and generosity, describing the recording process as an exhilarating and deeply moving experience that underscored the collective spirit of the musicians involved.

Flea's journey to realize Honora is a testament to unwavering passion and the courage to explore new artistic territories. It exemplifies how dedication and collaborative spirit can transform a long-cherished dream into a vibrant reality, enriching the musical landscape with innovative sounds and heartfelt expressions.
