Previous Visit and Artistic Connections

This upcoming visit marks Jackman's second trip to the Ball State campus. His initial visit occurred last September when he accompanied his partner, Sutton Foster. Prior to his commencement role, Jackman revisited Ball State in November to host a special screening of his film Song Sung Blue. This movie, penned and directed by Craig Brewer and inspired by a 2008 documentary by Greg Kohs, features Jackman alongside Kate Hudson as a duo performing in a Neil Diamond tribute band. Ball State president Geoffrey S. Mearns expressed his appreciation for Jackman's involvement, highlighting the actor's talent, versatility, and advocacy for the arts and humanities. Mearns conveyed his gratitude for Jackman's willingness to engage with the university community and anticipated an inspiring address for the Class of 2026.
