Today marks a significant milestone for Khruangbin, the Houston psych-funk ensemble, as they commemorate the tenth anniversary of their seminal 2015 studio album, "The Universe Smiles Upon You." To honor this occasion, the trio has unveiled a completely re-recorded and reworked iteration of the album, aptly named "The Universe Smiles Upon You II," offering fans a fresh perspective on their beloved debut.
In addition to the album's re-release, Khruangbin has also presented a new visual accompaniment for the track "White Gloves II." This comes on the heels of their recent studio album, "A La Sala," which was released in 2024, demonstrating the band's ongoing creative output. Furthermore, the group recently reunited with former touring partner Arooj Aftab to contribute a remix to her album "Night Reign," specifically for the track "Raat Ki Rani," highlighting their collaborative spirit and expanding musical network.
This re-imagining of their debut album, alongside new visual content and recent collaborations, underscores Khruangbin's enduring impact and their continuous artistic journey. It reflects a band that not only cherishes its foundational work but also actively seeks to evolve and engage with its music in innovative ways, bringing both nostalgia and novelty to their dedicated fanbase.
