Bungie's highly anticipated extraction shooter, Marathon, is poised to offer players their inaugural taste of its interstellar action through a free Server Slam beta event. This limited-time experience will allow aspiring Runners to explore the perilous landscapes of Tau Ceti IV, engaging in intense PvP and PvE encounters to secure valuable loot. Although progression from the beta will not transfer to the final release, participants can unlock exclusive cosmetic rewards that will be available upon the game's official launch.

How to Participate in the Marathon Server Slam Beta and Claim Rewards

From Thursday, February 26th, to Monday, March 2nd, gamers can dive into the Marathon Server Slam without any upfront purchase. This accessible beta will be available for download on major platforms, including Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. The event fully supports cross-play and cross-save functionalities, ensuring a seamless experience across devices. While the primary objective is to test server stability and gameplay mechanics, Bungie has also prepared a tiered reward system to incentivize participation:

  • First Mission Completion: Unlocks the Standard Arrival Cache, containing six standard implants, four standard runner shell cores, six standard weapon chip mods, and the Overrun and Hardline weapons.
  • Reaching Runner Level 10: Grants access to the Enhanced Arrival Cache (Green), which includes six enhanced implants, twelve enhanced runner shell cores, four enhanced weapon chip mods, and the Enhanced Magnum and Enhanced Hardline weapons.
  • Achieving Runner Level 30: Rewards players with the Deluxe Arrival Cache (Blue), featuring six deluxe and enhanced implants, twelve deluxe and enhanced runner shell cores, four deluxe and enhanced weapon chip mods, the Deluxe Magnum and Enhanced Volley Rifle, and a Deluxe Base Backpack.

Beyond these caches, simply completing the introductory mission will also bestow a unique emblem and player background, ensuring that all efforts are recognized in the full game. The Server Slam will showcase two distinct zones—Perimeter and Dire Marsh—and introduce five out of six Runner shells, allowing players to experiment with various playstyles, including the "scavenger experience" offered by Rook.

This Server Slam serves as an exciting precursor to Marathon's full release, scheduled for Thursday, March 5th.
