Renowned creative force Noah Hawley, celebrated for his work on critically acclaimed series like 'Fargo' and 'Alien: Earth', is embarking on a new cinematic venture. He is set to direct and produce a reimagining of the Argentine supernatural horror sensation, 'Terrified', under the Warner Bros. banner. This project marks a significant move for Hawley into the horror genre on the big screen, promising a fresh take on a beloved international cult classic.

The original film, titled 'Aterrados' in its native Spanish, captivated audiences in 2017 with its chilling narrative. It delves into a series of inexplicable and terrifying paranormal events plaguing a specific neighborhood in Buenos Aires. The story follows a dedicated police officer and a team of intrepid paranormal researchers as they attempt to unravel the mysteries behind these supernatural occurrences, confronting forces beyond human comprehension.

Hawley's production company, 26 Keys, will spearhead this project. The company has a strong track record, having recently produced 'Alien: Earth', a series that garnered critical acclaim for its innovative approach to the classic sci-fi franchise and is already slated for a second season on Hulu and FX. The series was praised for its exploration of themes like personhood and hubris, alongside its thrilling depiction of encounters with extraterrestrial threats.

Beyond 'Alien: Earth', 26 Keys is also responsible for the Emmy-winning anthology series 'Fargo', which has amassed numerous accolades, including 70 Primetime Emmy nominations and seven wins across its five seasons. Additionally, the company produced the FX series 'Legion', further showcasing its diverse range in television production. Hawley's previous directorial foray into feature films was with 'Lucy in the Sky' in 2019. He is also an accomplished author, with his most recent novel, 'Anthem', published in 2022.

Demián Rugna, the original writer and director of 'Aterrados', will be involved in the development of this new adaptation, ensuring a connection to the source material. Rugna is also recognized for his 2023 horror film 'When Evil Lurks', which gained attention through IFC and Shudder. The collaboration between Hawley and Rugna on this project brings together a formidable creative team, poised to deliver a compelling and terrifying experience to a global audience.

This remake signals a continued interest in adapting successful international horror properties for wider distribution, with Hawley at the helm bringing his distinctive narrative style and proven directorial talent to the chilling world of 'Terrified'.
