The esteemed Peabody Awards Board of Jurors has revealed its selections for the 2026 honors, recognizing Amy Poehler, Sterlin Harjo, and PBS KIDS for their profound influence on media and culture. This announcement highlights their exceptional contributions across various facets of the entertainment and educational landscape.

Amy Poehler, a celebrated figure known for her Emmy-winning performances and her role as host of the Golden Globe-winning podcast 'Good Hang with Amy Poehler,' is set to receive the Peabody Career Achievement Award. This prestigious accolade acknowledges individuals whose extensive body of work has left a significant mark on media and cultural narratives. Poehler, formerly of 'SNL' and 'Parks and Recreation,' and a producer with a previous Peabody nomination for 'Lucy and Desi,' joins an distinguished group of past recipients, including Andrea Mitchell, Mel Brooks, and Sam Pollard. Meanwhile, Sterlin Harjo, a director, producer, and screenwriter, will be presented with the Peabody Trailblazer Award. Harjo, who earned a Peabody for 'Reservation Dogs' in 2021, is celebrated for his innovative storytelling that impacts culture and fosters social change. His work on FX's 'The Lowdown' further exemplifies his creative vision. PBS KIDS will be honored with the Peabody Institutional Award, a recognition for organizations and programs that have demonstrated a lasting impact on media and public imagination. Established in 1999, PBS KIDS is lauded for its dedication to educational programming for young audiences, encompassing beloved series such as 'Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood' and 'Wild Kratts,' and building upon the legacy of pioneers like Fred Rogers and Jim Henson.

Jeffrey Jones, Executive Director of the Peabody Awards, emphasized the honorees' role in shaping media and culture. He praised Amy Poehler for her intelligent, humorous, and fearlessly creative approach to comedy, Sterlin Harjo for his culturally groundbreaking and deeply personal storytelling that brings long-overdue voices to the forefront, and PBS KIDS for setting the standard in educational children's media. Jones highlighted their collective and individual impacts, affirming the awards' commitment to recognizing excellence that enriches and transforms the media landscape. The 86th annual Peabody Awards ceremony, scheduled for May 31 in Beverly Hills, will serve as the platform for celebrating these deserving honorees.

The recognition of these luminaries by the Peabody Awards underscores the critical importance of quality storytelling and dedicated public service in enriching our global community. Their work serves as a beacon, inspiring future generations to pursue creativity, innovation, and a commitment to enlightening and entertaining audiences while fostering a more inclusive and informed society.
