An official pre-event of Indonesia’s prominent music festival, Pestapora, is set to make its Malaysian debut this July 26 at Sunway Lagoon’s Surf Beach. This marks the first time Latihan Pestapora will take place outside Indonesia, generating significant excitement even before the lineup has been disclosed. Since its inception in September 2022, Pestapora has grown rapidly in scale and popularity, drawing massive crowds with its unique approach to festival organization. The event features a diverse range of artists and performers, from emerging talents to established legends. Additionally, the festival stands out for its interactive promotional strategies, including teaser quizzes and phased announcements on social media.

The Rise of Pestapora: Celebrating Indonesian Music Culture

Since its launch in Jakarta in 2022, Pestapora has become a hallmark of Indonesian music festivals. It initially featured 174 artists across six stages, showcasing a wide spectrum of musical genres. Organized by Boss Creator, an event company founded by former talent manager Rizky Aulia, the festival was born out of a desire to celebrate music post-pandemic and support artists irrespective of their genre. In 2023, it attracted over 97,000 attendees, featuring performances by popular acts like Sheila On 7 and Voice of Baceprot. The festival also includes unique elements such as Pecapowa, a daycare service for concert-going parents.

This vibrant celebration of music began as a three-day event in Jakarta's Gambir Expo. Featuring a mix of folk-rock bands, idol groups, and dangdut legends, the festival quickly gained traction. Its founder, Rizky Aulia, envisioned Pestapora as a platform to honor all forms of music and provide opportunities for Indonesian artists. Over time, the festival expanded, incorporating innovative promotional tactics like social media teasers and celebrity endorsements. These efforts contributed to its growing success, making it one of the most anticipated events in the region. The inclusion of special performances, such as former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's appearance, further solidified its reputation as a cultural phenomenon.

Expanding Horizons: Pestapora Goes International

As part of its global outreach, Latihan Pestapora is venturing into Malaysia, marking a significant milestone for the festival. Tickets for the Malaysian event are available in two categories—Rock Zone and General Admission—with pricing ranging from RM179 to RM349. Despite the lineup not being fully revealed, early bird tickets have already sold out, demonstrating the festival's widespread appeal. Children aged 8 to 15 can attend for RM70 per person, offering families a chance to enjoy the festivities together. The main Pestapora 2025 event is scheduled for September 5 to 7, promising another spectacular showcase of music and culture.

This international expansion signifies Pestapora's ambition to share its vibrant spirit with a broader audience. The festival's organizers aim to replicate the energy and creativity that have defined its Indonesian editions. By holding pre-events in various cities across Indonesia and now Malaysia, they ensure the festival's essence reaches more communities. For the upcoming 2025 edition, the first phase of the lineup already includes notable acts such as Wijaya80, JKT48, and Kunto Aji. As the festival continues to grow, it remains committed to fostering a sense of community and celebrating the rich tapestry of music. Fans eagerly await the full lineup announcement and the opportunity to experience this cultural extravaganza firsthand.
