A24 has just released the official preview for its upcoming science fiction horror film, 'Backrooms,' featuring acclaimed actors Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve. This cinematic adaptation brings to the big screen the internet phenomenon conceived by Kane Parsons, who, at merely 19 years old, became the youngest filmmaker to collaborate with A24. Parsons' viral YouTube series, which originated in 2022, delves into an unsettling dimension beyond our reality, drawing from the widespread online urban legend that inspired his creative vision.

The narrative, penned by Will Soodik, centers on the mysterious disappearance of a patient, prompting her therapist to embark on a quest into the unknown. Joining Ejiofor and Reinsve in this reality-bending thriller are Mark Duplass, Finn Bennett, Lukita Maxwell, and Avan Jogia. The film represents a significant collaboration in its production, with Chernin Entertainment co-financing alongside A24, and additional production support from Atomic Monster and 21 Laps Entertainment, ensuring a robust team is behind this highly anticipated release.

Filming for 'Backrooms' took place in Canada during July, underscoring the collaborative efforts of A24 and Chernin Entertainment as co-studios. The movie is slated to premiere in theaters on May 29, promising audiences a fresh and terrifying exploration of a digital-age myth, transformed into a full-length feature film that pushes the boundaries of perception and fear.

This film embodies the spirit of innovation and storytelling, bridging the gap between digital content creation and traditional filmmaking. It highlights how contemporary narratives, born from online communities, can evolve into significant artistic endeavors, captivating a wider audience and showcasing the boundless potential of emerging talent in the entertainment industry.
